Beef Cheek from Creston Valley Meats

Today Yoda had grass fed Beef Cheek meat, from Creston Valley Meats, for the first time.  Does anyone know how the grass fed selections from Creston Valley Meats are “finished”?  If you do, please leave a comment and let me know!

The package I defrosted was 4.17 pounds of meat.  Here’s the front of the frozen package:

Here’s the other side:

None of the “juice” goes to waste around here!:

IMG_0446I have fed cheek meat before but it was from the grocery store.  What I have seen are very thin slices of meat with none of the goodness of something like this that includes this much fat and the lips too!

Yoda has yet to learn the “I’m full” cue and walk away so I cut each large piece into 3 pieces for a total of 6 pieces/meals.  Here’s one side of Yoda’s meal tonight:

IMG_0451The obvious drawback of this type of meal is the lack of complication.  She ate this in less than 10 minutes.  Balanced with complicated meals, in my opinion this is a great option.

If you have a gulper you may want to leave the pieces bigger and then watch like a hawk.  If you have a serious gulper then these would not be good and you might want to stick to these kinds of meals!:
