I thought that I would share my experience with the Ostrich Wings from Creston Valley Meats since it is such an unusual choice for most rawfeeders.
I have to say they were totally not what I had conjured up in my mind. They are NOT individually packaged so be prepared for that. For me, I just reused some newspaper and wrapped them up with that and some tape.
They are fatty, have “tubes” hanging off of them where the feather was and are quite pungent!
Yoda has only been here for four months and so not a truly “experienced” raw fed dog so when I saw these I was a bit worried.
They are quite meaty – so the “end result” is perfect and not dry and crumbly at all.
It takes Yoda almost and hour to eat one! I love it – she is exhausted after her meal. She is only 28 pounds so I’m sure a bigger dog would get through them much quicker but these are a bit more complicated then you might expect.
The tubes and the stray little feather left behind? Eaten, no problem!
The smaller segment – this piece is about 15 ounces and 6.5″ long and 2″ to 2.5″ across
I hate to say it, for fear I won’t ever be able to get them again, but if they are available these are a great choice!
If you live in California check out Creston Valley Meats – they deliver!
